Our Future is open

"Galvanized by an idea, networks of strangers are challenging traditional firms with products that are just as good, more flexible - and often free."

"Software is just the beginning … open source is doing for mass innovation what the assembly line did for mass production. Get ready for the era when collaboration replaces the corporation."

"If that sounds melodramatic, consider how far things have come in the past decade. Torvalds' hobbyists have become an army. Britannica's woes are Wikipedia's gains. In genetics and biotech, open source promises a sure path to breakthroughs. These early efforts are mere trial runs for what open source might do out in the world at large. The real test, the real potential, lies not in the margins. It lies in making something new, in finding a better way. Open source isn't just about better software. It's about better everything."

Our independence day is coming. Open source is the future...

The Long War

The long war is here! How to win it?

"According to one military expert on global terror, we're at the outset of a war that could last 40 years. Here are four bold strategies to help you adjust to this new reality -- and make sure that we win the war."

"Around the world, a perfect storm is converging. Skyrocketing energy costs, slumping consumer confidence, geopolitical uncertainty, and global overcapacity are causing anxiety attacks across every market. It doesn't matter which country code you dial. The news is globally grim.

It's unlikely to get better any time soon. According to retired General Wayne Downing, who spent the past two years heading up the U.S. global war on terrorism at the National Security Council, the war will last 25 to 40 years. It's all but certain, he says, that New York and Washington, DC will be hit again. It's certainly possible, if not probable, that other major urban centers and key U.S. ports will also be hit. Al Qaeda's goal is to destroy the U.S. economy by paralyzing its key institutions through terror."

Does it sound like "1984" by George Orwell? A never-ending war, with an invisible enemy... Think about it...
